James Iha Assulted

Thanks to karmacoma for posting about this on the Netphoria message boards:
Here is the article:
http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/noje/story/0,2789,209743,00.html (swedish)
You can use this link to try a rough translation: http://www.tranexp.com:2000/InterTran?

Rough summary: Apparently he was there to work on a project with a swedish artist, and they had been hanging out and was on their way home late at night when they were assaulted by two men, who threatened to hit james with a bottle and told his friend that they'd shoot him if they didn't give them all of their money. They stole 300 dollars from james, plus his credit card and driver's license. Later, he somewhat ironically said that he longed home to safety on manhattan.

Vintage Pumpkins Home Video Refurbished

From Billboard.com:
Vintage Pumpkins Home Video Refurbished

The Smashing Pumpkins will reissue their 1994 "Vieuphoria" home video on DVD Nov. 19 via Virgin. An audio-only CD version of the project, fittingly titled "Earphoria," will see simultaneous release. According to a publicist for both projects, the DVD will house 20 minutes of additional material that was not on the original VHS.

Performances found on the original video for "Vieuphoria" -- including a 1993 acoustic take of "Cherub Rock" from MTV Europe, a live version of "Today" recorded in the band's hometown of Chicago, and a 1992 performance of "Slunk" from a Japanese television appearance -- will be augmented by some recently unearthed studio footage of the Pumpkins recording their major label debut, "Siamese Dream."

"Vieuphoria," the Pumpkins' first video release, shies away from the group's promotional video clips, instead showcasing live performances, taken mostly from the 1994 tour in support of "Siamese Dream," intercut with skits and backstage footage. The expanded version of "Vieuphoria" may also end up containing rare TV performances chronicling promotional efforts for the Pumpkins' 1991 Caroline debut, "Gish," but their inclusion is still pending.

The Pumpkins split in 2000. Frontman Billy Corgan has been working with a new band, Zwan, but a spokesperson had no information on the outfit's activities. The "audio" section of Zwan's official Web site has periodically featured fan recordings from live shows but the feature is presently "out of order." The site does host video footage of a live show last year in Los Angeles.
