Michael Day? Did the Earthquake Kill
You?
My Sub. Webmaster Michael Day seems to have dissapeared again.
Did the earthquake in Ohio kill you?
On that topic, I felt my first earthquake here in Toronto as the shockwave hit me. I was
working at my 17" monitor when it started to rattle, at first I didn't realize it was
an earthquake because it was pretty weak.
Well anyways, I apologize for this news topic but there is no other news to report. |
Picture of the Day
As you may have noticed the Picture of the Day hasen't been
updated. This is because I've run out of good pictures and I haven't been unable to
contact Michael Day. If you have any good pictures please e-mail them to me.

Buy Me Some Peanuts and Cracker Jack...
It's been confirmed that Billy did indeed sing "Take Me
Out to the Ball Game" during the 7th inning stretch of Friday's Chicago Cubs baseball
game (televised on WGN TV Chicago). According to John Rittichier (who sent us an e-mail):
He [Billy] stayed around to talk with the announcers on TV during the bottom of the
7th. He basically talked about coming to Wrigley with his grandmother in the 70s. He also
talked about how the strike disillusioned him, but that the Cubs have brought him back to
baseball for the right reasons. Also said that he was good luck for the team sarcastically
since the Cubs were losing. This is all I caught of the interview after he sang because I
left the room.
All I have to say is, how do you leave the room when Billy's on the TV? Just giving you
a hard time, John... and thanks for the e-mail! |
RealVideo of Billy's 7th Inning Stretch

Take Me Out to the Ball Game...
A source in Chicago tells us that they've heard that Billy
Corgan will be singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" Friday, September 18th
(today). The game starts at 3:20 PM EST (2:20 CST) on WGN TV. |
As I Suspected... Grunge AIN'T Back
A news update below (entitled "Back to Grunge?")
reported that Billy stated that the Pumpkins next album would be a return to grunge in an
MCM French TV interview. An e-mail from Jerome Conin clears this up:
I live in France, and I've watched the interview of Billy on MCM at least ten times.
Billy was being sarcastic when he said "It will be back to Grunge", the
interview wasn't really good due to the bad questions, so Billy tried to be smart and said
that he had some huge Rock & Roll plans for the future and at the end of the interview
he said that he was going back to Grunge (he was smilling when he said that). Then when
the reporter said "Great, that's good news", Billy said "yeah right" -
those were the last words he said.
I had a suspicion there was some confusion there. It turns out Billy was just pouring
out the sarcasm as he's prone to do.

Conan 5th Anniversary Special
It has been brought to our attention that the Pumpkins may
appear on the 5th Anniversary Special for 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' tonight at 10:00
PM EST on NBC. If they do appear, it could be a re-air of the Pumpkins' earlier
performance of "Muzzle" or it might be a new performance. |
Starla.org... An Explanation
We've found out what happened to Starla.org, the
presently-offline Smashing Pumpkins web site. The following is an explanation by Joshua
Provost, Starla.org webmaster:
"As you may have noticed, starla.org (and by extension the SPLRA web site)have
been down for a while now. I have not been able to access email foralmost two weeks now.
It looks like some sort of routing problem between theweb host and it's uplink provider,
yet is not being resolved.
Pending tree structures have not been posted due to these problems. Theywill be posted
shortly if my access gets back.
Due to these problems, I am looking for someone else to host starla.org. Here are the
requirements, for the System Administrators out there:
* World-accessible Unix server hosted in US
* 100-500MB available space dedicated to starla.org
* Apache web server (SSI!)
* A single POP or IMAP email account
* Mail siphon
* @starla.org to that account
* I will handle DNS
If you can meet these criteria, please email me at jprovost@my-dejanews.com ASAP.
Thanks, Joshua Provost"

Back to Grunge?
An e-mail from Pierre Maheut claims that in an interview for
French music channel MCM, Billy says that that next is a return to grunge. Can anyone
confirm this? Was Billy being sarcastic? I find it hard to believe that Billy would turn
on his words like that, but e-mail me to prove
me wrong if you've seen this interview. |

Information taken from www.nme.com:
