Michael Day
As some of you may or may not know Michael Day my co-webmaster hasn't been working on the site for a long time, almost 2 months. I haven't talked to him in a very long time and last time I did he was
very busy. As a result I've been forced to work alone and I too am very busy, this is the main reason why updates have become erratic and the quality of the site is suffering. I've tried phoning Mike but I have only gotten no answers or busy signals. If anyone lives in the Cincinnati area can you please contact me.
Otherwise I may have to find a replacement, candidates for replacement will be invitation only so please don't e-mail me about that yet.

Billboard review of Crestfallen
In the 11/28 issue of Billboard they review Crestfallen, here it is:
The Smashing Pumpkins-Crestfallen (4:09)
Producer: Billy Corgan
Writer: Billy Corgan
Publishers: Chrysalis Songs/Cinderful Music, BMI
Virgin 13629 (CD Promo)
The velvety, sleepy texture of "Crestfallen" is the clearest selling point of
this latest Smashing Pumpkins track. While the lyrics are fairly trite ("All
Iask you is for another chance/You were never meant to belong to me"), the
vocal harmonies are warm, and the melody is engaging. A collage of unexpected
elements, the single employs schmaltzy minor-key piano and strings-an oddly
gothic touch-as well as impersonal, canned-sounding drums of the low-budget
R&B variety. As a rock ballad, "Crestfallen" verges on being sluggish and
anticlimatic, but when considered for ambient appeal, it's a winner.
Billy Corgan appearance in Chicago - 11/23/98
Billy Corgan appeared yesturday in Chicago. He was at the Metro in Chicago along with
Tony Visconi(Producer of David Bowie and Lucious Jackson) and Chris Shepard
(Engineer of Pumpkin songs - Annie Dog and Tale of Dusty and Pistol Pete.)
It was a talk forum called "Painting the Musical Picture: A conversation
about the role of the artist, engineer & producer." It was hosted by NARAS.
The conversation lasted about 2 1/2 hours. It was a discussion; there was no
muscial performance. It was recorded for the web and will be shown through the NARAS site.
Billy talked about alternative rock being over, and spoke of how the Pumpkins
got their start right there at the Metro. He spoke of how he remembered
himself on the front of the stage at the Metro and Jimmy playing drums right
behind him. Whole crowed started clapping. Afterward, Billy gave a few
autographs out and posed for some pictures. Some people were able to get autographs.
Admission was only $10. It wasn't highly publicized, and there were
60-70 people in attendence.

Pumpkins on ESPN
Info taken from The Smashing Pumpkins Collection:
The Pumpkins will be one of a few bands featured on Sat. Nov. 21 from 1-1:30 P.M. on ESPN2. They will be showing inline skating
to the music of the Pumpkins and will also be showing clips from some of their concerts. This was confirmed yesterday on one of the
shows on ESPN where No Doubt was featured. It may be on ESPN, I'm not really sure. But it will be on one of the two. Thanks to
J.E.B. Slaven for the info.
I'm back
After suffering many computer problems I'm back and everything seems to have been resolved. I also fixed the messageboard so it can be used again, sorry for any delay.

Pumpkins Sever ties with Management Company

Smashing Pumpkins sever ties with management company
The Smashing Pumpkins have left Q Prime management, and the band is now
searching for a new handler to guide its career, which in 1998 ran a bit off
track.
Q Prime spokeswoman Gayle Fine confirmed the band's departure, but offered no
comment. According to Jill Berliner, attorney for the Smashing Pumpkins, the
relationship between Q Prime and the band had been "strained for some time,"
and that "the band's vision differed with management's vision." The Pumpkins
joined Q Prime's all-star roster almost exactly three years ago, on the eve of
the release of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. That double-CD quickly
went multiplatinum and dominated rock, and even pop, radio for much of 1996,
with hits such as "Tonight Tonight" and "1979."
The Pumpkins' latest album, Adore, released six months ago, has to be
considered a commercial disappointment. To date it has sold 840,000 copies,
according to SoundScan, making it the sixty-eighth best-selling album of the
year. In this week's Billboard, Adore drops from No. 148 to No.183.
Q Prime, run by Cliff Burnstein and Peter Mensch, is one of the music
industry's best-known and successful management companies and counts on its
current roster Hole, Madonna (which Q-Prime co-manages), Metallica, the Red
Hot Chili Peppers, Def Leppard and Bruce Hornsby. Recently, the company has
expanded, purchasing half of Volcano Records (home of Matthew Sweet and Tool),
and entered the amphitheater business.
Sources speculate that Pumpkin band members (and Billy Corgan in particular)
may have felt the band was not getting enough attention from Q Prime.
As for where the band may land next, industry insiders are pointing to the
emerging, as yet unnamed, management/record label company being formed by Gary
Gersh and John Silva. Gersh resigned as president of Capitol Records last
spring, and Silva has been co-president of Gold Mountain management, where
he's worked with Beastie Boys, the Foo Fighters, Beck and Sonic Youth. Silva
is leaving Gold Mountain and taking his all-star acts -- and possibly the
Smashing Pumpkins, too -- with him and teaming up with Gersh to form a new
entertainment company. (All of those acts, though, would maintain their
existing record label contracts.) Berliner confirms the band is talking with
Gersh and Silva, "among others."
As for the band's next move career-wise, one major label VP offers some
unsolicited advice: "They need to go away for a while -- just hide completely
and not even let Billy have his picture taken."
The Pumpkins apparently disagree. According to Berliner, the band is expected
to enter the studio soon, with a release due out in '99.

Rockers Take In Topless Fashion Show
Taken from Sonicnet.com:
Rockers Take In Topless Fashion Show
A topless fashion show in Los Angeles on Sunday night brought out such rock
stars as the Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan, Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot
Chili Peppers and Hole's Eric Erlandson. Held at the strip-club Cheetahs, the
event showcased the spring collection of L.A.-based designer Pauline
Takahashi, whose line, "Pauline," features only skirts and pants. Pop singer
Taylor Dayne was also in attendance.

Lack of Updates
A number of people are asking me why the page is not being updated that often. The simple reason is that there is no news to update with, this is an extremly slow time in Smashing Pumpkins news, but as the new album goes into production I'm sure more news will appear.
