The new Smashing Pumpkins album
entitled MACHINA/the machines of God will be released in
February 2000 and will be the 5th Smashing Pumpkins album. This new album will consist of
work from Billy Corgan, James Iha, D'arcy*, Jimmy Chamberlin and will be
produced by Flood. Flood produced Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness along with Billy
Corgan.
If you look to the right you
can browse the album Track Listing. The album was recorded
in Chicago and they had been recording since the end of the Arising Tour. Here you can
see some pictures from the Official
Smashing
Pumpkins Site that shows some work from the new album: the whiteboard with song
titles, lyrics binder,
With Every Light lyrics.
The music can be described as louder and harder than Adore.
A secret listening party at the Whiskey Bar in New York City let about 15 key modern rock
radio programmers plus a number of Virgin Records personnel, who were flown in specially
by the label for the party. A source at the party told allstar that the new album
definitely rocks harder than the electronica-tinged Adore with "more guitars and more
snarling vocals.". Click here to read a review by
Eric Agnew who was there.
